Our Process
We make things slowly, in small runs, using techniques that predate the fashion industry itself. For you, that means pieces with a stronger connection to how they were made, from textiles woven on pedal looms in Oaxaca and dyed with plants, to jewelry formed by hand at the bench, to dresses produced in limited quantities so nothing is made that isn't wanted.
Woven, Never Cut
Our mañanitas follow the Quechquemitl tradition: two woven panels joined by hand, never cut. The result is a distinctive garment made with virtually no cutting waste. No fabric scraps, no landfill waste. The garment leaves the loom whole.
Dyed by Nature
Cochineal, marigold, pomegranate, pecan, mahogany, and indigo give each piece a depth and character that synthetic dyes can't replicate. Our artisan partners are leading a return to natural dyes in Oaxaca, where most work today is done with synthetics.
Formed by Hand
Each bead, cuff, and hoop is shaped one at a time by master metalsmiths. Slight variation between pieces isn't a flaw. It's what makes your piece individual - the signature of the hand that made it.
Small Runs Only
Limited quantities, quarterly rhythms. We'd rather make fewer pieces that last than more pieces that don't. For you, that means a more considered wardrobe, with pieces made to be worn and enjoyed rather than replaced.

A thoughtfully made garment shouldn't arrive wrapped in a problem. Cornelia Lively keeps packaging simple, recyclable, and worth keeping where we can, extending the same care to the experience of receiving your piece.

Cornelia Lively exists because of long relationships: with a husband-and-wife dye workshop in Oaxaca, with metalsmiths who've spent decades at the bench, and with small production houses in Denver and New York. We don't source from our partners. We create with them. That means every piece carries a connection to the people, places, and traditions behind it.
